.. which is strange, because on LinuxPPC (and other Linux-based
systems), those files comes as a part of GCC itself:

$ rpm -q -f /usr/lib/gcc-lib/ppc-redhat-linux/2.95.3/include/stddef.h 
gcc-2.95.3-2n

Darren, what do you get from "gcc -v"?  Do you have the file above?
