Given it isn't easy, I guess you think `single sign-on' means logging
into any of the Unix machines with the same user/password and seeing
your normal home directory.

I take it to mean authenticating once with the local system and then
local software authenticates with *any* remote services as and when
required according to criteria you've told it.  No more logging into
amazon.com, webmail, etc.
