[savannah-help-public] Replicant source code hosting

In the past, the Replicant source code was hosted at Gitorious, which is
being closed down and has been unusable for some weeks now.

We discussed the various possible options for hosting the Replicant
source code and concluded that non-gnu Savannah would be a good fit for
it. In particular, we wished for a hosting provider that matches the
core values behind Replicant (about free software) for us to be
affiliated with (this is why we ruled out options such as Gitlab or
Github). In addition, it is key for us that the code is hosted by a
trusted third party (there again, many providers don't qualify), both to
protect us against injonctions like DMCA takedowns and to protect us
from having our code modified against our will.

However, we are not sure that Savannah would be ready to host the full
source code of the Replicant system, along with a few extra repositories
such as our website. In total, we expect that the full source code is
about 50 GiB and this will keep on increasing, but will certainly remain
under, say, 100 GiB.

The Replicant source code comes with various free software licenses and
is likely subject to various patents in the US (which may be less of a
concern now that they are on the way to becoming deprecated).

With all those elements in hand, is it possible for Savannah admins to
say whether Replicant could be hosted there or not?

I cannot stress enough our need for hosting the Replicant source code
fast. Gitorious, while not being down yet, is technically broken and
doesn't allow cloning the Replicant source code anymore. This is simply
halting any contribution to the project at this point.
