Sorry.  As Richard mentioned, it was discussed on IRC, though there's
no reason to expect people would follow that. The reason there wasn't
any warning was 1) getting this release out involved a lot of
scrambling for time; I didn't even get a chance to merge all of the
patches I had on hand and would have liked to, and 2) a general
philosophy of who cares, there'll be another one in 3-5 weeks...

If we always wait for outstanding changes to go in, we'd never
release; interesting changes are already being committed since 0.18
:-).

Think of it this way: now there'll be more things for me to boast
about in the 0.19 NEWS file :-).

Oh well yeah. This is like the first release in a few that didn't break compatiability in a big way. I have no problem with the who cares atitude. I'll get it ready for 0.19 or 0.20. This gives me an excuse to write debconf hooks to generate a default database, server key, and such. :)

I also need to submit a patch for the gvim/vi external merge stuff.
