This was an excellent piece of detective work.  I'm puzzled to know why
the problem appeared with the step from tcl 8.0.2 to 8.0.3.  

I'm reluctant to make a patched rpm with this hack until I understand
better the implications.  I don't guess there is any way to be sure that
all users will have their tcl library in the same place, but it is a
pretty good guess.  Redhat 5.2 users seem to get by just installing the
older tcl, but if somebody gets desperate, let me know and I will see
what I can do for you.
