what overhead? it's a few bytes more in the binary, maybe,
but nothing otherwise except when the user enters j ? ,
which on your argument below s/he should be doing very rarely;
but having added a jump the user may well want to see it's really there.

why `all the time'? you find a new useful info site
-- currency rates, soccer scores, the weather in Timbuktu --
& add it to your jumps file: if you're running Lynx with Screen,
you can do that in a few seconds, but don't want to restart Lynx
with all your search strings, history list etc lost.
that's been my situation more than once & apparently someone else today.
