Until very recently I've been doing all my tla work with a total of
2.5Gb working space for revlibs + pristines + checked out dirs etc.

In that space I've worked on linux, on squid, on tla, cscvs et al and
only occasionally had a problem. And that was resolved by partial nuking
of the revlib.
