I think there are SWF parsers around that tell the contents in textual
form, which could be useful for you.

Not yet, of course. But I expect it to do everything that is necessary
to render Flash files correctly, including all kinds of gradients and
bitmaps and such. Line styles are no problem at all and it's only a
matter of time until fill styles will be complete.

Even if AGG does not support something, it can be extended to do so
since you have access to each level of the rendering pipeline. I hope
that will not be necessary because I'm not a graphics specialist ;)

Anyway, AGG offers *far* more than we need for Gnash...
