That's where I declare I want to use the mySQL interface. :)

I've nuked all the dependencies and started over (libtool, mysql client, 
etc.), made sure ldconfig output looked good, etc.

If I build it myself, it works fine...  Just looking for some hints before 
I contact the port maintainer.
