Perhaps it is not 'really' a ddd bug then?
I too have managed to try other systems without seeing this effect, but
versions of ddd on the same system exhibit the effect.
On the original system, the font preferences are read correctly and applied
correctly, but when the new preferences are saved it seems that all sizes are
somehow zero and the .ddd/init file updated with these values.
Is it some unusual way that suse9.3 sets up the X system resources? Perhaps
I'll try installing LessTif and see if that changes the behaviour. Perhaps I
can demonstrate that it is not a DDD bug and pass the buck to some other
mailing list?

I tested this on Tru64 UNIX with the vendor Motif, though on an older
version of ddd (3.3.9-test2), and I didn't get the problem you're seeing.
If I set this to times and "150" (I accidentally had 1150 at first, which
was not good), those settings are preserved.
