Hi all,

Richard Stallman referred me to this email address for help with video.  I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction.

I am trying to get some video on the web using free software.  Richard will not let me post the video otherwise, since it is video of him.  I am quite frustrated.

I have converted my video into ogg/vorbis and it looks great if I use VideoLan, and I can even get it to play using the Cortado java applet.  But Cortado has issues.  First of all, I'm not sure if it is free software or just open source.  Honestly I don't know how to tell the difference.  Second, I cannot control playback (pause, resume, stop, etc.) - I can get it to stop once, but not resume - and when it stops, it only stops video.

VideoLan is great - but I can't expect our users to download it.  And I think it's a bit prick-like to force them to download it to watch a video.

I love Gnash, and can make flash video files (flv) but then I'm not sure if this satisfies Richard's request that I use free software.

So - is it possible to satisfy Richard's request to post only in a free format, and allow users to play it from a web page?  I suppose I can just let people download it in ogg format, but that would sure piss of the people that don't have an ogg player - i.e. most of my audience.

Thanks!
