Just read the reply to incoming maintainers. I really find the way the
translation project works is weird.

>From what I understood, you just put your pot file and receive po files
in exchange. That's great. What bothers me is that:
-You have no contact at all with the translation teams,
-You can't integrate others po files in your project than those provided
by the translation project, to avoir interferings.

That's quite an impersonal way to work, I feel. What if we receive a
french po file, and I notice a possible improvement over the story? I
have to integrate the TP french translation team to put my change to my
package? And if someone wants to take over a new language, he'd have to
first join the TP as well.

All in all, it sounds very rigid. We'd lost a part of the control we
have on our project (the worst being when they say translation is a
matter between the TP and the end-user, not the package developers), and
have work submitted by people who don't even follow the storyline and
might know nothing about Adonthell's customs.

Note that this is not a deny for requesting help from the TP, it's just
that I wonder whether an adonthell-i18n list and some dedicated
translators wouldn't be better. I mean, if the only contact translators
have with Adonthell is the pot file and they translate every single line
like machines, what result will it be? While it is suitable for
classical programs, I fear it doesn't fit with the needs of a game. What
rest unknown yet is how easy it would be to gain translators to our
cause.

Opinions guys?

Alex.
