Huh? Booleans are #t and #f whereas signed chars have syntax like #\001.
Incidentally, one problem with booleans in Objective C is that BOOL is
conflated with chars.

Anyway, it is not possible for a change to an archiver file to change the 
behavior of the Objective C compiler.  You must have compiled something
out-of-sync with the change proposed by Paul and myself.
