I am afraid that you are missing the point. Language, that is going to be
used for the development of the agents (and the core of the swarm)  will
still be the objective c - not Java.

Fact that Java has multithreading capability or not, will not change the
picture. Please, correct me if I am wrong. 

Java is going to be present there as a displaying tool, not in the core of
the things ... and users of the swarm will not be able to all of Java's
nice features ... at least not in the first phase ...
