Deleting your archive and starting from scratch can constitute "changing history" IF you create a new archive with the same archive name as the old one.
I have no idea where tla was finding the code inthe "pristine cache" because as far as I know, it doesn't exist anymore.
Yeah, tla can be pretty sneaky in that regard. It was probably finding the copies in old working directories. I'd recommend using greedy sparse revision libraries, anyway.
