Deleting your archive and starting from scratch can constitute "changing 
history" IF you create a new archive with the same archive name as the 
old one.

Yeah, tla can be pretty sneaky in that regard.  It was probably finding 
the copies in old working directories.  I'd recommend using greedy 
sparse revision libraries, anyway.
