With less kidding I'd say part of a good technology is a simple and
easy to understand interface.
Just to take a well known example, if you look at e.g. the ssh set of
commands/technology, you'll see a complex interface along with a hard
to understand man page just to set up something as simple as a password
pair.
GNUstep in opposite hides big parts of it's underlying technology to
the user (application devloper). This makes GNUstep/OpenStep/Cocoa so
powerful and (hopefully) successful in the long term.
Once a developer knows about GNUstep, he'll stick there. No need to
learn anything new. Am I kidding? See #1.
Cheers,
Markus
