NT won't require changes to autoexec.bat.  The only change (besides
cleanup of old Swarm stuff), is that SWARMDIR will be added under
Start/Settings/Control Panel/System/Environment.

By "shell" do you mean Swarm/terminal or the DOS box? 

Did you install Swarm using a user account or admin?  (It's intended
to by installed by a particular user.)
