All the info there on Solaris was obsolete. I've deleted it. Thanks.
(The problem is now detected and avoided by autoconfiguration.)
[The __builtin_apply `bug' w.r.t. Sparc has been pretty much defined
away by the GCC developers: they don't like the __builtin_apply design
and don't put a priority on supporting it. The problem with
__builtin_apply is that it assumes stack-based calling conventions.
At one point MessageProbes in Swarm relied on this compiler feature,
now we use the libffi and ffcall libraries.]
