Simple idea ... I like it ...
Also, if I change the default user like this, then should I take the "-u
sharedspam" flag out of rc.conf? Seems kind of redundant ..

Cranking up the spamd log level might print something useful, or add an
extra rule to the sharedspam user's local.cf and see if mail sent to a
virtuser's address triggers it.
