yes binary files are a problem as well as directories... the list goes on :)

True, those that wish to host on a shared box may have issues. but they would
probably have issues getting their own CVS repository hosted as well. They
would probably be better off with phptree or some other simple app ... perhaps
MyDMS, etc. I think subversion is the best choice because those serious about
file mgmt will host a dedicated box. Hosting on a shared box is the same
reason phpgroupware puts all their tables in one database which creates
limitations down the road. We need to think about scalability here.
