Hi Gem
I have downloaded gpsd sources from http://download-mirror.savannah.gnu.org/releases/gpsd/ .
Did the build using below command as mentioned in  gpsd-release-3.16.tar\gpsd-release-3.16\build.txt

scons && scons check && sudo scons udev-install

have attached the snapshot (for gpsmon and cgps both) when I run gpsd , gpsmon and cgps .

what I intend :
Port GPSD on Android to have USB Garmin work with providing locations info (Sorry for using the word that it gives NMEA)
Further plan is to connect Android Location framework with some JNI module implementation to read port 2947 and have google map work with this .

Do u think that above two points do-able or somebody already tried it ?

The third snapshot is when I use gpsd binary that I get from "sudo gpsd install" , the gpsmon  provides  the location info.

Garmin USB GPS never output NMEA.

Output of what?

No point trying NMEA from a Garmin USB GPS.

To know if json is right for you we need to know what you intend.

And long before you look at JSON, you need to get cgps to look
good.
