Agreed.  This is precisely why I suggested using a CVS branch off
the FSF repository.  I would also encourage discussion of patches
and technical decisions to be held in the GCC lists.  That will
help raise the project's profile, attract new developers and ease
the final acceptance into mainline.

Steven's thread on #pragmas on the gcc lists is exactly what I
think needs to be done for all the other changes we want to make
to GCC.

None of the above guarantees acceptance, of course, but it
improves our chances.
