I think you can do this with the source-install (apt), without
considering that apt doesnt pretend to be a fully customizable
installer, since, for some kind of structural reason
(_there_is_no_standard_) this cannot be, under any circustance, true.

You should still "pack" (or at least accomodate) any source tarball you
want gnu's user to be able to install.
