I've started work on a major mode that you might be interested in.

`todl' in the mode's title stands for TODO List.  But it is more
than a task manager.  Perhaps it is too hard to describe further
without giving too much away.

I'll just mention that it comes with

written in its own "native" format.

It is under active development - the version I've directed you to is
quite usable, but, with any luck, more features will be added before
