I saw it. I agree that free (human written) text is no problem.
That's why I wrote a whole paragraph on automated text.

The only fool proof sulotion is to use "visual" search (and even then
there are problems if lines are broken).

Until I moved to Emacs 21.1 and started using MULE I had no such
problems.

All my buffers where in 8 bit visual Hebrew. I used my hebeng.el to
enter Hebrew logically or visually. To search I used the same method
(check my enhancement for isearch). I had a small problem with UNIX
Hebrew (0xE0-0xFA) Vs. MSDOG Hebrew (0x80-0x9A) but this was solved
by changing the `standard-display-table' so the MSDOG Hebrew was
visually different.

Now that I'm using MULE, problems are starting to appear - 8 bit
values and mule Hebrew (0xC60-0xC7A) are displayed the same (yes, I
should change `standard-display-table' again) and whats more they
can co-exist in the same buffer (I'll try to debug it more and find
the exact circumstances that it occurs) and then the search fails.

I suggest to defer the discussion of search until we have the bidi
display working.
