I'm renaming the thread to get help with answers to some questions
contained therein.
These questions are included below.

There also needs to be a way to structure the documentation ("this is

Yes using SimpleWebKit/Vespucci.app or a Firefox engine with wrapper
sounds good, but I did not find source code for the latter effort (even
though it was mentioned on list).
One fundamental difference of such app from a help viewer is ability to
show a list of available documentation, and to search it.

This could be interesting to do, but is out of my depth (I don't have a
Mac and don't know where to look for such information).
