Without going into your full proposal, which I'll probably get to once
I've had a chance to digest it fully, A suggestion based on your SNES
controller pic.

Personally, I'd find it more intuitive by far to have "Action/OK" as the
lower button, while "Jump/Cancel" is in the inner position. I wonder if
it would make sense to have the two custom buttons on the top, so that
"Run" could be on the right, a far more common place to put it. That
would leave the top of the "normal" buttons for "Switch Mode" Or possibly
you could trade that with the existing "Menu" button, which would make
more sense.

To be more clear, I'd personally like to see "Custom 1/2" as the top
buttons, while the four buttons on the face (clockwise from top) would be
"Menu", "Run", "Action/OK" and "Jump/Cancel". The two middle buttons
would be "Switch Char" and "Switch Mode", which makes sense to me.

I do like this concept, though. And the addition of a joypad mode would
probably boost our popularity all on its own.

More as it occurs to me.
