Thanks Paul, I will try this when I am back in the office tomorrow. I suspect I need the sdk instead of the mere jre? Also will the new rpms solve the dependency for swarm-base? Thanks!

Dear Ken

I build these rpms pretty frequently. The last was Swarm-2.1.143for j2sdk-1.4.1_02.

We have bene making some interesting changes in the Swarm source lately and you can look for Swarm-2.1.145 within a week, in the same directory. I'll build that against the newer j2sdk.

Dear Swarm Experts,

A colleague and I have a major Swarm project (a series of political
simulations of party evolution) developed in Swarm on a Windows
platform, and wish to port it to an office Linux machine. We went to
the development page and tried to download the latest rpm's, but ran
quickly into problems. See the detailed list below.

The linux machine's specs:
RedHat 9, freshly installed from CD images
j2re-1.4.1_03-fcs (downloaded and installed from Sun)

From the Swarm development software page I installed:
   blt-2.4u-7.i386.rpm OK
   hdf5-1.4.5post2-1RH90.i386.rpm OK
   jikes-1.18-1.i386.rpm) OK
