fine, your algorytm seems to work properly! ;-))
(I had checked this using this reference sample I've talked about )

btw - I've put this sample into three tracks (first one from 0 - 5 sec, second 
one from 2 - 7 and third one from 4 - 9) and noticed that the output level will 
be increased more and more.
Is this a (actually not implemented) task that is intended to be automatically 
handled by mixer?

yes, in my opinion, this seems to be absolutely sufficient for now ... maybe 
just showing the highest peak (as colored mark and as precise value) ?
