even the downloader/decoder back-end? (still on track for 0.13?)
one of the things I really liked about that idea was the ability to
write multiple front-ends for it... so we could have a pan-backend package,
and a pan-frontend-gtk2 package, and a pan-frontend-qt package, and a
pan-frontend-ncurses package.
