Follow-up Comment #50, bug #39000 (project octave):

Also, just for info purposes, on Linux systems libxerbla.la is just used as a
convenience library and linked in as part of liboctave.  There is no separate
library produced, so things should be working essentially the same as before. 
But yes, there were some changes to the build process that could cause trouble
if updating and attempting to run make in an existing build tree.
