IMHO that seems to be buildbot-side… but it's just a wild guess.
This is what shows in my buildbot's latest log:
/usr/local/bin/mtn --db=/blah/monotone.db checkout -r
8f2d1906d6e8dcb6a3b46ef018d1305fed2be024 -b net.venge.monotone /blah/build
in dir blah (timeout 1200 secs)
