Hi Matt,

The problem is that if that rpm contains proprietary components who's license does not permit redistribution, it would not be possible to host this (legally) on the GPP without permission of CodeSourcery.

If they gave permission then it would be okay to host it on the GPP.

For the linux powerpc toolchain, I believe there are no proprietary components. For
their PPC bare metal, they provide some startup code (CS3), and for some platforms they
provide a "sprite" for debugging. Also, their Eclipse plugins are proprietary.
But for linux builds, all you are using are binutils, gcc (and friends) and newlib, none
of which are proprietary.

Dear Stuart!

Sure, that's freescale-powerpc-linux-gnu-2010.09-55.i686.rpm, downloaded from
this site:

http://www.codesourcery.com/sgpp/lite/power/portal/release1571

If direct link doesn't work, follow this path:

www.codesourcery.com> Products> Sourcery Codebench> Editions> Lite> Power>
Downloads> GNU/Linux.

After installing this RPM, there is
/opt/freescale/usr/local/gcc-4.5.55-eglibc-2.11.55/powerpc-linux-gnu/share/doc/freescale-powerpc-linux-gnu/LICENSE.txt
which speaks about "CodeSourcery Proprietary Components". And it's not clear
to me whether this RPM contains such components or not.

Hi Gernot,

Can you point me to the link for the toolchain and also the place where
the license restrict distribution. AFAIK normally CodeSourcery "lite"
toolchains allow redistribution.

Dear all!

The attached patch contains the settings for the current CodeSourcery
toolchain for e300c3 platforms.

However, please note I didn't test it yet with current LTIB CVS as there
seems to be a license issue for using it: the CodeSourcery license
doesn't allow me to distribute the RPM, so I can't upload it to GPP.

Can you put this to GPP? If yes, I can happily test the patch with
current LTIB and probalby post an update.
