I didn't mean that yours would be wrong, but that the difference could be 
the reason to different behaviour.

Ok, so where's the difference? Just a wild guess, but can Jython write its 
"./cachedir"? And:
$ md5sum gzz-0.8alpha1.jar 
f2f50734a9f08e8e43017c2680e1e9dd  gzz-0.8alpha1.jar

And the other difference, between the jar unpacked or not... 

When testing, remember that you can easily create your own jars with 'make
jar'.
