Seems true, yes. Any arch specialist to confirm ?

exclude = internal to arch. For example, {arch}/
precious =  Something that will never  go in the archive  but that you
            don't want arch  to delete accidentally. Striclyt speaking
            equivalent to an entry in ~/.cvsignore.
junk  =  A  file  you  really don't  care  about  loosing.  Typically,
         temporary files for some programs. Sometimes more suited that
         precious to replace ~/.cvsignore. 
backup = As the name says, this is suited for backup files (Emacs's *~
         files & co). Similar to  precious, but the difference is that
         they are  not copied if arch has  to do a local  copy of your
         tree (I suppose this includes revision libraries and pristine
         trees).

No, this has no equivalent in CVS.
