Using CVS is so stone age! Even SourceForge offers Subversion after
many delays. CVS doesn't have atomic commits, doesn't provide a useful
log command and doesn't allow to specify date and branch in the same
time.

Just a few impressions from version 1.1.7.

configure looks for C++ and Fortran compilers, but neither is needed.

It's actually a good idea to use C++ - it's better suited for GUI than
plain C.

Do you need libtool? Wouldn't it be better to use convenience
non-installable libraries? Every installable library means having an
API, and this can be an impediment for GUI developers.

Obviously you don't have an embedded terminal. I think it's a must for
a file manager. mc can get away by reusing the parent terminal (with
all the complexities of cons.saver, xterm buffers etc), but GUI file
managers shouldn't.

"Quick Search" without a shortcut is a joke. It will never be "quick"
is it involves menu navigation.

I like using F9 for search.

F3 should do something more useful on directories.

There are random crashes when trying to use SMB. Please use Valgrind to
fix memory problems.
