I'd never heard of any problem like this and don't see why class
lookup would start to fail just because of CLASSPATH vs. ext/.  I
really don't like to advocate that people put styff into magic
directories.  People inevitabily forget what they did and what is
where.  If it is all in the Makefile, then it is written down in one
place.  What I'd _like_ to hear is that JDK 1.3 magically fixed it all
such that an unmodified jipd-grid-0.0.1 would work (except for the ":"
vs ";" thing and jdkswarm/jdkcswarm updates for 1.3).
