Okay, I've tracked this down and installed the fix in the CVS sources,
if you wouldn't mind installing it on Savannah.
The problem was that the get_topdir function was making an assumption
about the ordering of its directory list when the user could change it
by specifying directories in a different order explicitly on the command
line.
