Hello all,

rdiff-backup 1.1.15 has been released and features the usual variety of
bug fixes: http://www.nongnu.org/rdiff-backup/CHANGELOG-devel

I would like to point out that this release corrects the quoting
behavior so that it is now at least as good as 1.0.5's behavior. The
stable release was correctly quoting certain ASCII characters that the
1.1.x releases were not.

For setups that do not pass the "extended filenames" test (see the -v5
output), the quoting requirements will change, causing a fatal error. In
order to recover from this, there is a new feature that allows
rdiff-backup to requote the entire repository if the --force option is
specified.

Note, however, that this new re-quote features has not been heavily
tested (it has been tested somewhat). If you are wary of it, it is
likely possible to simply edit the chars_to_quote file and put in the
new quoting. Users are welcome to contact me directly (or the list) to
ask if that makes sense for them.

rdiff-backup is now quite close to a new stable release (1.2.0). Please
give this a good test. In particular, before releasing a new stable, I
would like to see how rdiff-backup handles upgrading a 1.0.x repository
to a 1.1.x repository, if that is even possible.

Best,
Andrew
