Hi,
Sorry, this did not worked for me; when using -curses, it shows the
640x480 screen. It *does not * respond to pressing "Esc". (or to any
other key).

I disabled the frame buffer by adding "fbcon=map:99 text" to the
command line (and made sure, after reboot, that cat /proc/cmdline
does show it).

Also I added:
blacklist vga16fb
in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-framebuffer.conf

and made sure that:
lsmod | grep vga16fb
returns noting,

My setup is Ubuntu 14.04.1 server, and the command sequence I ran is:

qemu-img create -f qcow2 vdisk.img 10G
qemu-system-x86_64 -curses -hda vdisk.img -cdrom
ubuntu-14.04.1-server-amd64.iso -boot d -m 384

Any ideas why the "Esc" does not work ?
Did anyone tried something similar ?

Regards,
Kevin
