OK. Attached is the CVS diff and PNG file for the infinity symbol, which
goes into Games/Pingus/data/images/core/misc.
How was the font done? Was it originally just a green font with black
outlines. What tool was used to "anti-alias" the font together with the
variable alpha values?
I had to get two 0s together, mirroring one of them and then change a few
pixels using the GIMP color picker tool. The individual pixel changing
took some tweaking to get the symbol to look reasonable.
As I am basically dealing with the info-panels, probably best to start
dealing with ways to make it iconic. One thing I thought of would to
replace the word "Saved" with a Walker walking into an exit and then turn
into an Exiter sprite. This would be just like the animated action
buttons. However, I don't know what the Exiter should exit into in the
"Saved" icon.
Hmm. Thinking about this, may be all it needs to do is exit into the
icon background, assuming that the icon is going to be like the Action
buttons. This could look OK.
I also thought of something similar to replace the word "Released." Have
a Faller fall a short distance. It would then turn into a Walker and walk
out of the "Released" icon. The problem I see with this is that the
Faller would fall for such a short distance that it would either be too
fast (i.e. the Faller has fallen from a long way above the icon) or look
slow (i.e. the Faller only started its fall just above the icon) and
therefore silly.
All of the above ideas use existing sprites. So, it shouldn't be too
difficult to do.
However, I can't think of an icon that would represent the number of
Pingus that are out and alive in the level. The only idea I can come up
with is a Pingu looking left and then right for Pingus, shielding its eyes
from the "sun". But that's too vague.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Gervase.
