These two (and the lerning curve for the application developers) are why I'm
limiting my suggestion to using gettext as a format to generate the currently
used lang files, not actually using it within phpgroupware.

This is where I'm wondering (without having any predictions about the outcome)
how the translators view being able to stay within phpgroupware to do
translation (as this seems to be the main advantage of the current scheme for
the tool side) or being able to use the gettext-based tranlator's aids.

I'm sorry if my last message didn't stress enough that I'm not suggesting to
change much (or possibly anything at all) of phpgroupware itself, it's only a
thought about the process of actually translating stuff.
In particular, my idea is generating the current style lang files or parsing
the po files (once, namely when they're added) by hand if there are issues
with php-gettext.
