You're probably having communications issues, and the server isn't
sending anything back to the client, so the patches never appear (though
they're obviously loaded into the engine, since they work).

It is weird that the client is connecting fully (it only starts up if it
does) but this is happening though....

Please paste the console output of both om and om_gtk (preferably
seperately)
