Follow-up Comment #6, bug #57198 (project octave):

Philip, Lars, it seems that the issue that you are describing is not related
to the OP, since it appeared only recently with the current dev branch.

Since I am not able to reproduce this issue on my system, could you please
post the relevant lines of the gui preferences file (section "DockWidgets",
key beginning with "FileEditor...") for the cases where the editor does not
reopen at the expected position?
