Follow-up Comment #4, bug #56258 (project octave):
Two desperate final ideas were to just install any other version of Octave
(for example the 32-bit version) or to check with another Windows System. If
you can run Octave on that other system, one can try to systematically find
out the differences and hopefully this might lead to a solution.
Otherwise, I totally agree to Rik (comment #2), ask on the mailing-list and
maybe someone else has had solved the very same issue before.
