er, I'm afraid scons doesn't help here. it doesn't configure and build cross toolchains for you, nor build native dependencies with alternative build systems of their own (*cough* boost), nor buy operating systems and funny hardware to run the tests on.

Scons will configure and build cross toolchains and you can make it build native dependencies with what ever you want it to.

as I've said in the past, I do *like* scons. it just doesn't solve all the world's building problems. it's one piece in a big, ugly puzzle. I'd even be happy enough to use it if I'd gotten around to writing a distcheck rule (it doesn't have one by default). I'm only sticking with automake out of inertia, but inertia is a "real" reason.

What do you mean by distcheck?
