With what function do you see this behavior?  And on what platform?  With
v2.8.1-rel.2?

I don't see this with the /-search or g(oto) functions, nor when entering
a filename for (say) the p(rint) function.  Instead, when the BOL is
reached with the cursor, further attempts to "move left" by either the
left-arrow or backspace are ignored.
