Follow-up Comment #27, patch #5952 (project lwip):

Yes, I use time(NULL) for generic system, not really for this case. Note that
using time(NULL) or the magic number should be an usual case (because, most of
time, the MAC address will be used).

Perhaps use sequential values ( + MAKEWORD(hwaddr[4], hwaddr[5]) +
tried_llipaddr) (with check of overflow of the range) will be efficient ?
(perhaps it's what you propose with "xor for all mac addresses"?)
