Ok, attached is what it gives for me. colorx-jean-texi2pdf.pdf
is obtained via PDFTEX=xetex texi2pdf, colorx-jean-texi2dvi.dvi
is via PDFTEX=xetex texi2dvi, and colorx-jean-texi2dvi-xdvipdfmx.pdf
is from the latter piped through xdvipdfmx. I have version
20200315 of xdvipdfmx. I am not sure how to get the version of
kpathsea.

Could you send the DVI file? As these look quite small, there
might be a chance to see a meaningful diff.
