The g95 group maintains a Google-based mail list at

 http://groups-beta.google.com/group/gg95/

in case somebody wants to see what one looks like. My opinion: it works, but
as they say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

A while back the g95 list had an invasion of Chinese language spammers. They
solved the problem by making everyone "join the list." I suspect some spam
protection is built into the current Octave help mail list.

I also view my downloaded messages as a resource that I can search. Somehow
that's friendlier than searching a remote archive somewhere. I can control
what's there and what I delete.
